The Zerkalo Center is a public organization operating since 1999. It has implemented over 500 projects of varying scale, using both quantitative and qualitative methods (sample sizes ranging from 400 to 5,000). A network of more than 300 interviewers ensures nationwide coverage across Tajikistan. Its partners include WEF, World Bank, EBRD, ADB, FAO, UNICEF, and WFP.
The Centre for Sociological Research ‘Zerkalo’ was established in Dushanbe in November 1999 by a group of sociologists and public opinion experts. Over the years, the Centre has grown from conducting local studies in the capital to implementing large-scale nationwide research projects on a regular basis.
The Centre’s flagship project, “Public Opinion Monitoring”, was first launched in 2000. Its uniqueness lies in its regularity: it systematically provides data on how the population perceives changes in social and economic spheres and allows for tracking the dynamics of these changes over time.
A logical continuation of this work was the project “Print Media Audience in Tajikistan”, implemented by the Centre in 2002–2003 with the financial support of the Eurasia Foundation.
Since 2003, the ‘Zerkalo’ Centre has been building strong partnerships with leading research centers in the CIS, Europe, and the USA. In 2004, the Centre became an official partner of the World Economic Forum in Tajikistan.
In 2004 and 2005, the implementation of the “Public Opinion Monitoring” project expanded beyond the capital, covering 20 cities across Tajikistan. The results of these studies were shared with government authorities, international organizations, and media outlets, and were made accessible to the general public.
Since 2005, the ‘Zerkalo’ Centre has conducted over 20 research studies and projects annually.
Our history represents 26 years of success in the field of sociological and marketing services. ‘Zerkalo’ Centre projects employ the full range of modern sociological and marketing research methods.
