Sprockler Training Sessions in Dushanbe

On 2–3 October 2026, training sessions were held in Dushanbe for representatives of civil society organisations and human rights defenders. The sessions aimed to strengthen their capacity to monitor the implementation of the National Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Field of Human Rights Protection until 2038. The training sessions were conducted as part of the project “Enhancing Civil Society and the State’s Capacities on Accountability and Torture Prevention through Human Rights Initiatives in Tajikistan,” funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with three organisations: the Centre for Sociological Research “Zerkalo”, the NGO “World of Law”, and the Dutch foundation “Perspectivity Challenge”.

The “Perspectivity Challenge” expert team introduced participants to modern approaches to digital data collection and analysis using the Sprockler digital research platform. Sprockler is a research platform and data collection methodology based on stories and narratives. It enables users to collect and analyse not only quantitative data but also people’s real-life stories and personal experiences, as well as visualise the findings. This approach helps develop a deeper understanding of how policies and measures affect the lives of different population groups.

The use of modern data collection tools is particularly important for monitoring long-term human rights policy documents. Reliable data, complemented by insights into people’s lived experiences, can contribute to a more objective assessment of progress, the identification of existing challenges, and the development of evidence-based recommendations to further improve human rights protection mechanisms.

Practical exercises were a key component of the training sessions. Participants not only explored Sprockler’s main features and methodology but also began developing their own online surveys for subsequent data collection. The knowledge and tools gained will be used by civil society organisations to monitor specific areas of implementation of the National Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Field of Human Rights Protection until 2038. @euintajikistan
